About Michelle McLean
Born on 31 July 1972 in Windhoek, Namibia, Michelle McLean embarked on her modelling career at the age of 13. Her early experiences in international modelling laid the foundation for a remarkable journey that would see her crowned as Miss Namibia in 1991 and subsequently Miss Universe in 1992.
Michelle married to Gary Bailey; former Manchester United Goalkeeper. She has a son, Luke Bierbaum, three step children and six grand-children – they live in Miami Florida, USA.
Rise to International Fame
In 1991, Michelle represented Namibia at the Miss World pageant, securing a spot in the top five. The following year, she made history by winning the Miss Universe title in Bangkok, Thailand, becoming the first Namibian woman to achieve this honour.

Television Presenting and Hosting Roles
Following her success as Miss Universe 1992, Michelle transitioned into television, hosting and presenting numerous programmes across various genres, including travel, e-commerce, music, and fashion. Her versatility and charisma made her a sought-after media personality, MC and motivational speaker globally.

Establishment of the Michelle McLean Children Trust
In 1992, Michelle founded the Michelle McLean Children Trust (MMCT) with the mission to assist and encourage Namibian youth to commit to their future and the future of their country. The Trust focuses on education, healthcare, and social support, aiming to empower children to achieve their fullest potential.

Impact and Achievements
Over the years, MMCT has initiated and managed hundreds of projects, including the establishment of the Michelle McLean Primary School, which educates approximately 1600 students.
The Trust has also been involved in healthcare initiatives, such as the “Heart of a Child” project initiated with the late Professor Chris Barnard, which facilitated life-saving heart surgeries for over 40 children.
