Michelle McLean Primary School
The Michelle McLean Primary School is not only the largest single project undertaken by the Foundation up to now, but it is also a proud landmark in its endeavours to fulfil its promises and mission to `assist and encourage the youth of Namibia to commit themselves to their future and to the future of Namibia`.
The School was built in Otjomuise in 2000 as a state school in a joint venture with the Ministry of Basic Education, Sport and Culture. For many learners from Otjomuise the long walk to school is now something of the past.
The first phase of the Michelle McLean Primary School included 18 classrooms, a library, an assembly hall, two ablution blocks, an administration complex with offices, and a caretaker’s residence. The school was officially inaugurated in October 2000 by the President of the Republic of Namibia, His Excellency Dr. Sam Nujoma, together with Michelle McLean.
In 2001, the school opened its doors to 493 learners. Today, it has grown to accommodate more than 1600 learners from Grade 1 to Grade 7. Michelle McLean has remained closely connected to the school visiting multiple times a year with donors and project partners of the Michelle McLean Children Foundation.
By October 2004, during the school’s fourth anniversary celebrations, the second phase of development was completed, which added three more classrooms and another ablution block to meet the growing needs of the learners. Now in 2026 realizing the VISION FOR THE FUTURE PROJECTS, and more additions to the school, a school hall, sports field as well as a school bus.
